Brimstone Lark

I entered the backyard of a studio that I had never been to. It brambeled like a meadow who married a garden and let it grow wild.

Figures surrounded a fire pit in the distance tucked behind sage and rosemary. I expected a jovial bonfire, but the quiet with which each attendee honored the situation was palpable.

So I sat with respect.

We went round and round, first listening to the organizer explain the focus of a prayer, then each sharing our prayer before burning one of five substances in the fire.

My Prayers and Intentions:

1. Give me the peace and stillness needed to recognize when the universe is providing me signs- conspiring for me.
2. Give me the patience needed to recognize that my vision for the future may not be the one the universe has planned for me. Give me the strength needed to let go of my fear and control so that I may see the greenlights when they come.
3. Let me always know that someone has my back in this world, let my new family members learn this as they grow into adulthood.
